BUSINESS STANDARD

Yet another round of senior level reshuffle is on the cards at the State Bank of India (SBI).

A K Batra, present deputy managing director (DMD) & corporate development officer (CDO), SBI, is set to take over as the deputy managing director & group executive (international banking) from P K Sarkar, who retires this month end.

Batra was earlier tipped to take over as a managing director (MD). Now it seems certain that S Govindarajan will be appointed managing director & group executive (national banking), SBI. The position fell vacant after Vepa Kamesam moved to the Reserve Bank of India as a deputy governor.

KSV Krishnamachari, the present MD of State Bank of Hyderabad (SBH), will be taking over from Batra as the DMD and corporate development officer, while S Santhanakrishnan, who was promoted in July to the DMD's post, will be made the MD of SBH. Santhanakrishnan is now looking after the corporate accounts group of the bank as a chief general manager (CGM).

N Sadasivan, CGM, Mumbai circle, is taking up his new assignment as the managing director of State Bank of Indore. He was promoted to the DMD's rank in July.

B Behara, CGM, Bangalore circle, has already taken over as CGM, Mumbai, R Sundararaman, DMD & chief credit officer, will take up the position of DMD & group executive (associates & subsidiaries).

This post fell vacant after D P Roy retired in September. Subsequently, Roy took over as chairman of SBI Capital Markets. Former SBI Caps MD Birendra Kumar has been brought back to the parent bank as DMD and chief credit officer.

Earlier, Chandan Bhattacharya was appointed as the DMD (inspection & management audit), based in Hyderabad, to fill the vacancy created by shifting Govindarajan to the headquarters.

SBI had also promoted N K Puri, CGM (international banking), as DMD and appointed him as the managing director of State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur.
