Cardamom declines 2.6% on profit-booking

Increased arrivals, subdued demand influence prices

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Cardamom prices fell by Rs 25.80 to Rs 969.20 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits amid subdued demand in the spot market.

Increased arrivals from producing regions put pressure on cardamom prices in futures trade.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for October delivery declined by Rs 25.80, or 2.59%, to Rs 969.20 per kg, with a business turnover of 1,112 lots.

November cardamom eased by Rs 14.10, or 1.40%, to Rs 989.90 per kg, with a trading volume of 161 lots.

Marketmen said besides profit-booking at existing higher levels, fall in demand in the spot market put pressure on cardamom prices in futures trade.
