Jeera futures up on spot demand

Jeera prices rose by 0.53% to Rs 16,000 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators enlarged positions, supported by a firm trend at the spot market on pick up in demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in May contract rose by Rs 85, or 0.53% to Rs 16,000 per quintal with an open interest of 18,048 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in April contract gained Rs 74, or 0.48% to Rs 15,600 per quintal in 18,048 lots.
Analysts said pick up in demand at the spot markets mainly pushed up jeera prices in the futures trade here.
