Jeera up 0.5%, poor export demand caps gains

Jeera futures prices rose by Rs 68 to Rs 14,270 per quintal today on low-level buying, but poor export demand amid fresh arrival capped the gains.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), jeera for delivery in February was up Rs 68, or 0.48%, to Rs 14,270 per quintal, with an open interest of 8,910 lots.
The March contract traded higher by Rs 58, or 0.40% to Rs 14,501 per quintal, with a business volume of 12,387 lots.
Market analysts said bargain buying by speculators helped jeera futures to trade higher but hopes of fresh arrivals and poor export demand, limited the gains.
