Lead gains 0.28% on spot demand

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Lead prices traded marginally up by 0.28% to Rs 107.40 per kg in futures market today, due to pick-up in demand from battery-makers in the spot market and a firming global  trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in February traded marginally higher by 30 paise, or 0.28%, to Rs 107.40 per kg in business turnover of 830 lots.

The March contract edged up by 25 paise, or 0.23%, to Rs 108.45 per kg in 41 lots.

Analysts said pick-up in demand from battery makers in the spot market amid firming global trend mainly helped lead futures prices to trade marginally higher.

Meanwhile, lead climbed 0.5% to $2,197 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
