Mentha oil futures fall 2.21% on profit-booking

Mentha oil prices moved down by Rs 26.60 to Rs 1,175.10 per kg in futures trade today, as speculators were busy in booking profits, driven by sluggish demand in the spot market.

Adequate stocks following increased arrivals from producing regions also influenced the mentha oil futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, mentha oil for January-month fell by Rs 26.60, or 2.21 per cent to Rs 1,175.10 per kg, with a business turnover of single lot.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in December declined by Rs 18.60, or 1.56 per cent to Rs 1,174.80 per kg, with an open interest of one lot.

Fall in mentha oil prices was due to continued profit- booking by speculators and weak demand at spot markets, traders said.
