Pepper, turmeric prices rise on tight supply

Black pepper and turmeric prices rose by Rs 200 per quintal in the national capital today, largely on the back of tight supplies amid pick up in local and export demand.
Restricted supplies from producing regions and a firm trend in futures market also supported the rise in prices. Black pepper and turmeric prices rose by Rs 200 each to conclude at Rs 22,500-22,600 and Rs 18,600-21,600 per quintal, respectively.
Analysts said increased buying by stockists, following a pick up in domestic and export demand against tight supplies from producing belts, pushed up pepper and turmeric prices on the wholesale kirana market here.
