Potato gains 0.9% on good spot demand

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Potato prices gained Rs 6.50 to Rs 753.80 per quintal in futures trade today, as traders enlarged their positions on the back of a firming trend at the spot markets on good demand for the ongoing marriage season.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, potato for delivery in April gained Rs 6.50, or 0.87%, to Rs 753.80 per quintal in business turnover of seven lots.

March potato edged up by Rs 1.40, or 0.18%, to Rs 759.90 per quintal in 309 lots.

Marketmen said increased buying by traders on good spot demand, supported by ongoing marriage season, mainly pushed up potato prices at futures trade.
