Sensex below 17K, down 138pts

The NSE Nifty is down 31 points at 5,081.

Cipla has plunged 3.5% to Rs 217. ICICI Bank has shed 2.5% at Rs 893.

Maruti, Tata Steel and Wipro have slipped around 2% each to Rs 722, Rs 785 and Rs 457, respectively.

Infosys, ACC and Satyam have declined around 1.5% each to Rs 1,660, Rs 771 and Rs 438, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever, Hindalco and TCS are down over 1% each to Rs 247, Rs 187 and Rs 879, respectively.

Reliance, Tata Motors and ONGC are also down around 1% each at Rs 2,593, Rs 632 and Rs 1,045, respectively.

 

Reliance Energy and Jaiprakash Associates have surged over 3% each to Rs 1,402 and Rs 253, respectively.

HDFC Bank and Reliance Communications have advanced over 1.5% each to Rs 1,523 and Rs 586, respectively.

Out of 2,694 stocks traded so far, 1,348 have advanced, 1,269 have declined and 77 are unchanged.
