Sensex down 70pts; L&T, Tata Steel weak

The Sensex is now down 70 points at 8,957.

Jaiprakash Associates and Reliance Infrastructure have slumped 5.5% each to Rs 54 and Rs 491, respectively.

Tata Motors has tumbled 3.7% to Rs 135. Larsen & Toubro and Tata Steel have shed 3.5% each at Rs 724 and Rs 150, respectively.

Reliance Communications and SBI have dropped 3% each at Rs 193 and Rs 1,071, respectively. NTPC has shed 2.7% at Rs 160.

TCS has surged nearly 4% to Rs 548. BHEL has rallied over 3% to Rs 1,341.

Tata Power is up 1.7% at Rs 666.

The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 1,858 stocks traded, 1,127 have declined, 676 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
