Sugar rises on brisk buying

Sugar prices continued its rising trend at the Vashi Wholesale market here on sustained demand from stockists and traders.

Small sugar quality (S-30) firmed up by Rs 5/10 per quintal to Rs 2,821/2,861 from overnight closing level of Rs 2,811/2,856.

Medium sugar quality (M-30) also gained by Rs 4/15 per quintal to Rs 2,855/2,931, as against Rs 2,851/2,916 yesterday.

The following are today's closing rates per quintal, with the previous rates in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality Rs 2,821/2,861 (Rs 2,811/ 2,856) and medium sugar (M-30) quality Rs 2,855/2,931 (Rs 2,851/2,916).
