Turmeric up 1.32% on short-covering

Mounting stocks also helped the uptrend

Turmeric prices gained 1.22% to Rs 6,908 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators covered their short positions.

However, mounting stocks and approaching new supply season capped the gains.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, the May contract gained Rs 90, or 1.32% to Rs 6,908 per quintal with an open interest of 6,390 lots.

Similarly, the April contract traded higher by Rs 88, or 1.22% to Rs 6,806 per quintal in 6,390 lots.
