Family member of Indian-American astronaut Kalpana Chawla said they were honoured as Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Arlington National Cemetery laying wreath at Space Shuttle Columbia Memorial.
Chawla along with other U.S. astronauts, who were on board the ill-fated space shuttle Columbia, which disintegrated while reentering the earth's orbit on February 1, 2003.
Talking about Prime Minister Modi's visit to the memorial, Jean-Pierre Harrison, Chawla's husband said, " I think he was glad to be here and I think he appreciate couple of family members here."
Remembering his wife, he said that Kalpana was a very determined person and she just worked very hard to achieve whatever she wanted.
He added that India is his second home and he will be visiting the country in near future.

Chawla's niece Neha Chawla said that her aunt's life is an inspiration.
Saying it's an honor that Prime Minister visited here, she added, "I think she is an inspiration and her life is an inspiration and I think she has made the country proud."
She said that her aunt was very motivating, very positive and a great person.
