Militants have reportedly demolished a monastery in Syria's central province of Homs.

According to reports, several dozen captured Christians have also been transferred during a recently launched offensive, to a location near their stronghold in northeastern Syria.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has claimed that the militants used bulldozers to raze the monastery in the town of Qaryatain, which they had captured in early August.

Qaryatain is near a road linking the ancient Roman city of Palmyra to the Qalamoun mountains, along the border with Lebanon.
