North Korea claims it can 'miniaturise' nuclear weapons

North Korea has claimed yet again that it can make nuclear warheads small enough to fit into a missile.

A defence official was quoted, as saying that the nation's nuclear programme had "long been in the full-fledged stage of miniaturisation."

However, analysts noted that although there was evidence to show that the programme was advancing, it was difficult to assess its true extent, the BBC reports.

Dr John Swenson-Wright, the head of the Asia programme at the Chatham House think-tank, warned that North Korea's latest statement must be interpreted and seen with caution.
