The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UPSTF) has arrested eight people for allegedly cheating people through fake holiday packages and mobile tower rental agreements.

The UPSTF team on Saturday sealed two call centres in Delhi from where the calls were being made.

"The company's office was located at Laxmi Nagar in East Delhi. Around 64 call centres were their channel partners. These call centres are located in Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida," said UPSTF Additional Superintendent of Police Triveni Singh.

"The UPSTF will scrutinise records of all the 64 call centres to ascertain their involvement and to calculate the magnitude of the scam. They also cheated people under the pretext of providing loans and the sanctioning of ATMs at their place," he added.

As of now, transactions worth Rs 14 crore have been detected.
