Auto shares slide

Auto stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Auto index falling 52.33 points or 0.28% at 18389.46 at 13:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Auto index, Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd (down 2.09%), Tata Motors Ltd (down 1.32%),Eicher Motors Ltd (down 1.26%),Balkrishna Industries Ltd (down 1%),TVS Motor Company Ltd (down 0.66%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Exide Industries Ltd (down 0.65%), MRF Ltd (down 0.53%), Bajaj Auto Ltd (down 0.44%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (down 0.21%), and Apollo Tyres Ltd (down 0.12%).

On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (up 1.11%), Amara Raja Batteries Ltd (up 0.74%), and Ashok Leyland Ltd (up 0.68%) moved up.

 

At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 203.04 or 0.49% at 41802.76.

The Nifty 50 index was up 54.2 points or 0.44% at 12311.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 116.72 points or 0.83% at 14264.36.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 29.89 points or 0.61% at 4896.24.

On BSE,1460 shares were trading in green, 909 were trading in red and 174 were unchanged.
