Auto stocks edge lower
Auto stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Auto index decreasing 425.92 points or 3.37% at 12211.18 at 13:53 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Auto index, Balkrishna Industries Ltd (down 5.63%), TVS Motor Company Ltd (down 4.78%),Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (down 4.77%),Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd (down 4.32%),Exide Industries Ltd (down 3.88%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Bajaj Auto Ltd (down 3.87%), MRF Ltd (down 3.87%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd (down 3.78%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (down 3.49%), and Amara Raja Batteries Ltd (down 3.21%).
On the other hand, Cummins India Ltd (up 2.15%), turned up.
At 13:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 544.92 or 1.75% at 30614.7.
The Nifty 50 index was down 127.6 points or 1.4% at 8984.3.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 79.27 points or 0.77% at 10214.48.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 50.12 points or 1.37% at 3599.41.
On BSE,1085 shares were trading in green, 1170 were trading in red and 185 were unchanged.
