Basic materials stocks rise

Basic materials stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index increasing 29.13 points or 1.06% at 2768.27 at 09:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Hindustan Copper Ltd (up 16.21%), Prakash Industries Ltd (up 11.49%),Sarda Energy & Minerals Ltd (up 8.72%),Gravita India Ltd (up 7.24%),Visaka Industries Ltd (up 6.74%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Godawari Power & Ispat Ltd (up 5.95%), Phillips Carbon Black Ltd (up 5.74%), Everest Industries Ltd (up 5.62%), Zuari Global Ltd (up 5.44%), and Hil Ltd (up 5.42%).

On the other hand, Uniply Industries Ltd (down 4.92%), Ballarpur Industries Ltd (down 4.65%), and Camlin Fine Sciences Ltd (down 3.24%) turned lower.

 

At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 118.6 or 0.29% at 41424.62.

The Nifty 50 index was up 31.2 points or 0.26% at 12213.7.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 56.68 points or 0.41% at 13843.37.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 10.58 points or 0.22% at 4802.44.

On BSE,962 shares were trading in green, 407 were trading in red and 68 were unchanged.
