Energy shares spurt

Energy stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Energy index rising 78.37 points or 1.8% at 4440.07 at 09:53 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Goa Carbon Ltd (up 3.69%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 2.85%),Aban Offshore Ltd (up 2.58%),Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (up 2.39%),Reliance Industries Ltd (up 2.03%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd (up 1.56%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (up 1.53%), Gujarat Gas Ltd (up 1.17%), Confidence Petroleum India Ltd (up 1.12%), and Mangalore Refinery And Petrochemicals Ltd (up 1.09%).

On the other hand, Castrol India Ltd (down 2.12%), Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd (down 0.13%), and Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (down 0.09%) moved lower.

 

At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 315.33 or 1.04% at 30511.5.

The Nifty 50 index was up 90.55 points or 1.02% at 8969.65.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 35.42 points or 0.34% at 10390.6.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 23.04 points or 0.63% at 3687.79.

On BSE,794 shares were trading in green, 546 were trading in red and 73 were unchanged.
