Net outflow of Rs 328.04 crore on 5 May 2016
Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold stocks worth a net Rs 328.04 crore on 5 May 2016, higher compared with net outflow of Rs 27.63 crore on 4 May 2016. The net outflow of Rs 328.04 crore from the secondary equity markets on 5 May 2016 was a result of gross purchases of Rs 3735.05 crore and gross sales of Rs 4063.09 crore. On that day, the Sensex rose 160.48 points or 0.64% to settle at 25,262.21, its highest closing level since 2 May 2016.
There was an inflow of Rs 0.05 crore into 'primary markets & others' category on 5 May 2016 which was a result of gross purchases of Rs 0.05 crore and zero gross sales.
FPIs have sold shares worth a net Rs 788.19 crore into the secondary equity markets in this month so far (till 5 May 2016). FPIs bought shares worth a net Rs 8347.69 crore from the secondary equity markets last month. FPIs have purchased shares worth a net Rs 12028.82 crore from the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2016 so far (till 5 May 2016). FPIs sold shares worth a net Rs 4362.50 crore into the secondary equity markets in calendar year 2015.
The net inflow from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category has totaled Rs 14.57 crore in this month so far (till 5 May 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 68.04 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category last month. The net inflow from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category has totaled Rs 108.38 crore in calendar year 2016 so far (till 5 May 2016). There was net inflow of Rs 22168.40 crore from FPIs into the 'primary markets & others' category in calendar year 2015.
