Metal shares gain

Metal stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Metal index rising 103.36 points or 1.13% at 9265.19 at 09:49 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, NMDC Ltd (up 2.28%), JSW Steel Ltd (up 1.88%),Tata Steel Ltd (up 1.37%),Coal India Ltd (up 1.21%),Vedanta Ltd (up 0.63%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 0.41%), and Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 0.15%).

On the other hand, Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 0.56%), National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 0.48%), and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (down 0.47%) moved lower.

 

At 09:49 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 57.84 or 0.15% at 39793.37.

The Nifty 50 index was down 9.1 points or 0.08% at 11652.75.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 26.96 points or 0.19% at 14317.74.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 15.2 points or 0.31% at 4939.96.

On BSE,558 shares were trading in green, 970 were trading in red and 67 were unchanged.
