Metal stocks edge higher

Metal stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Metal index increasing 8.36 points or 0.09% at 9765.38 at 09:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, JSW Steel Ltd (up 0.47%), Vedanta Ltd (up 0.44%), Coal India Ltd (up 0.26%), Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 0.18%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 0.17%), and Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 0.13%), were the top gainers.

On the other hand, National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 0.64%), Tata Steel Ltd (down 0.2%), and NMDC Ltd (down 0.13%) turned lower.

At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 158.3 or 0.39% at 40089.93.

 

The Nifty 50 index was down 48.25 points or 0.4% at 11868.95.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 23.6 points or 0.17% at 13545.64.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 1.32 points or 0.03% at 4644.88.

On BSE,808 shares were trading in green, 631 were trading in red and 74 were unchanged.
