Metal stocks edge higher

Metal stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Metal index increasing 49.18 points or 0.54% at 9133.5 at 09:52 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Coal India Ltd (up 1.4%), JSW Steel Ltd (up 1.04%),NMDC Ltd (up 0.94%),Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 0.37%),Vedanta Ltd (up 0.34%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Tata Steel Ltd (up 0.24%), and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 0.17%).

On the other hand, Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 0.64%), Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 0.34%), and National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 0.27%) turned lower.

At 09:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 29.96 or 0.07% at 40333.27.

 

The Nifty 50 index was down 6.05 points or 0.05% at 11823.35.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 36.07 points or 0.25% at 14477.08.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 11.87 points or 0.24% at 4995.02.

On BSE,763 shares were trading in green, 695 were trading in red and 82 were unchanged.
