Metal stocks rise

Metal stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Metal index increasing 170.83 points or 2.83% at 6216.25 at 09:52 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 4.12%), Tata Steel Ltd (up 3.28%),National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 3.27%),Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 3.23%),Vedanta Ltd (up 2.76%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were JSW Steel Ltd (up 2.73%), Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 2.59%), NMDC Ltd (up 2.41%), Coal India Ltd (up 2.27%), and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 1.74%).

At 09:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 181.6 or 0.58% at 31561.15.

 

The Nifty 50 index was up 61.7 points or 0.67% at 9249.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 196.68 points or 1.85% at 10838.25.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 76.31 points or 2.04% at 3808.09.

On BSE,1127 shares were trading in green, 348 were trading in red and 79 were unchanged.
