Metal stocks edge lower
Metal stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Metal index decreasing 139.68 points or 1.44% at 9561.67 at 13:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, NMDC Ltd (down 2.43%), Coal India Ltd (down 2.34%),Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 2.34%),JSW Steel Ltd (down 2.23%),Tata Steel Ltd (down 1.26%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Vedanta Ltd (down 0.73%), Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 0.7%), and Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 0.64%).
On the other hand, National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 1.38%), and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 0.54%) turned up.
At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 112.66 or 0.28% at 40962.95.
The Nifty 50 index was up 30.7 points or 0.25% at 12073.9.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 20.02 points or 0.15% at 13472.81.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 3.3 points or 0.07% at 4732.36.
On BSE,1101 shares were trading in green, 1180 were trading in red and 185 were unchanged.
