Telecom shares gain

Telecom stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Telecom index rising 17.87 points or 1.61% at 1129.07 at 09:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 4.44%), Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 4.39%),Tejas Networks Ltd (up 2.84%),Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 2.67%),HFCL Ltd (up 2.02%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were ITI Ltd (up 1.69%), OnMobile Global Ltd (up 1.67%), Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 1.4%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 1.18%), and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 0.65%).

On the other hand, Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 1.23%), moved lower.

 

At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 409.22 or 1% at 41226.96.

The Nifty 50 index was up 131.1 points or 1.09% at 12156.45.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 170.94 points or 1.23% at 14044.91.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 56.51 points or 1.18% at 4840.01.

On BSE,1228 shares were trading in green, 237 were trading in red and 72 were unchanged.
