Telecom shares soar

Telecom stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Telecom index rising 9.56 points or 0.97% at 999.97 at 09:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 4.98%), Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 3%),Tejas Networks Ltd (up 2.58%),Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd (up 1.47%),Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 1.24%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 0.94%), and Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 0.63%).

On the other hand, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 4.75%), GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 3.64%), and Reliance Communications Ltd (down 2.63%) moved lower.

At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 81.03 or 0.21% at 38208.11.

 

The Nifty 50 index was up 29.95 points or 0.26% at 11335.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 53.27 points or 0.42% at 12825.34.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 23.33 points or 0.54% at 4348.27.

On BSE,812 shares were trading in green, 537 were trading in red and 90 were unchanged.
