Telecom stocks edge higher
Telecom stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Telecom index increasing 11.63 points or 1.12% at 1050.26 at 09:52 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 4.33%), Tejas Networks Ltd (up 2.24%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 1.31%), Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 1.3%), and Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 0.71%), were the top gainers.
On the other hand, Reliance Communications Ltd (down 3.95%), GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 3.7%), and Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (down 1.47%) turned lower.
At 09:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 208.78 or 0.68% at 30370.31.
The Nifty 50 index was down 51.45 points or 0.57% at 8915.6.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 182.62 points or 1.68% at 10661.17.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 70.69 points or 1.85% at 3741.02.
On BSE,626 shares were trading in green, 906 were trading in red and 62 were unchanged.
