Telecom stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Telecom index decreasing 4.85 points or 0.44% at 1089.32 at 13:47 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Reliance Communications Ltd (down 4.4%), Tejas Networks Ltd (down 3.07%), Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 1.57%), HFCL Ltd (down 0.86%), Optiemus Infracom Ltd (down 0.72%), and Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 0.53%), were the top losers.
On the other hand, Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 9.17%), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 4.88%), and GTL Infrastructure Ltd (up 4.08%) turned up.
At 13:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 158.03 or 0.39% at 40570.6.
The Nifty 50 index was up 48.5 points or 0.41% at 11958.65.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 58.46 points or 0.44% at 13205.07.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 24.11 points or 0.52% at 4659.16.
On BSE,1253 shares were trading in green, 965 were trading in red and 165 were unchanged.
