Telecom stocks rise

Telecom stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Telecom index increasing 11.84 points or 0.71% at 1678.52 at 09:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 2.55%), Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Ltd (up 2.03%),Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 1.64%),Route Mobile Ltd (up 1.51%),Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 1.16%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 0.99%), Reliance Communications Ltd (up 0.92%), Tata Communications Ltd (up 0.91%), ITI Ltd (up 0.88%), and Tejas Networks Ltd (up 0.68%).

On the other hand, GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 0.74%), GTPL Hathway Ltd (down 0.35%), and OnMobile Global Ltd (down 0.24%) turned lower.

 

At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 73.18 or 0.12% at 60186.95.

The Nifty 50 index was down 23.15 points or 0.13% at 17921.1.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 156.7 points or 0.55% at 28499.7.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 39.78 points or 0.44% at 8993.59.

On BSE,1772 shares were trading in green, 1022 were trading in red and 126 were unchanged.
