The Congress screening committee for Punjab polls, chaired by former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, met here on Wednesday to discuss selection of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in the state.
AICC in-charge of Punjab Asha Kumari told IANS: "The meeting was held and wonderful views were shared by the members of the screeing committee. The discussions will continue in the next meeting."
The members of the screening committee include Punjab Congress Committee chief Captain Amarinder Singh, Secretary in-charge of Punjab Harish Choudhary, Congress Legislature Party leader Charanjeet Singh Channi, Rajiv Satav, Meenakshi Natrajan and Asha Kumari.
Navjot Kaur Sidhu, the wife of cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, and former hockey Olympian Pargat Singh will join the Congress on November 28, Amarinder Singh said on Wednesday.
