Letters: Raje's right

Business Standard New Delhi

BJP leader Vasundhara Raje is right in resisting the party chief’s move to oust her. If no one else in the party has resigned, why should Raje? You are right (‘Turmoil in the BJP’, August 17) in saying the BJP has yet to come to grips with where it is heading. Voters don’t get impressed with religious parties any more and the BJP has shown it has not been able to rise above this — which is why party leaders of even the stature of L K Advani could not come out strongly against Varun Gandhi’s Muslim-baiting. Before the BJP criticises the Congress, it needs to see whether it is any different with its top leaders all nominated to the job.
