'Help us in getting ownership rights,' Tana Bhagats urge Rahul

"We have appealed to him to help us in getting ownership of our land. We don't have ownership status though we are tilling the land," Parmeshwar Tana Bhagat told reporters after attending a meeting addressed by Gandhi at the Mecon Community Hall here.
"We also told him that after the Tana Bhagat movement started in 1914, all Tana Bhagats later joined Mahatma Gandhi in his freedom movement. But none of our problems have been solved so far," Mangra Tana Bhagat said.
Congress MLA Gitashree Oraon, who was present at the meeting, said, "Rahulji assured them of help."
The Tana Bhagats also placed other problems relating to education of their children, farming and health before Gandhi.
Earlier Gandhi, who is on a two-day visit to Ranchi and Bokaro, garlanded the statue of tribal icon Birsa Munda.
