Aam Aadmi Party volunteers today held a demonstration at the collectorate here, demanding stern action against BJP workers for allegedly thrashing and chasing away AAP workers in Kanpur on July 11.
A memorandum addressed to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav was handed over to the district magistrate by district convener of the party Sachin Sharma.
In the memorandum, the volunteers have alleged that on July 11 a group of AAP workers went to meet BJP chief Amit Shah who was in Kanpur to hold a review meeting on BJP's mass contact programme.

When the AAP workers led by convener of Kanpur unit Arvind Katiyar reached the meeting venue, they were thrashed and chased away by BJP workers present there, it said.
The district magistrate Vimal Kumar Sharma assured the protesters to send the memorandum to the UP Chief Minister in due course of time.
