BJP member wants panel to identify families of 1984 victims

BJP member Avinash Rai Khanna today demanded in Rajya Sabha that the government should constitute a committee to identify the families of victims of 1984 riots and resolve their problems at the earliest.

During special mentions, K V P Ramachandra Rao (Cong) demanded central intervention to give remunerative prices for palm oil to farmers in Andhra Pradesh.

Paul Manoj Pandian (AIADMK) demanded special allocation of funds for cement lining and desilting of channels and tanks in Tirunelveli district in Tamil Nadu.

Tiruchi Siva (DMK) wanted the government to bring a legislation for inclusion of the Narikoravan tribe of Tamil Nadu into the scheduled tribes category.
 

V Maitreyan (AIADMK) demanded the government to withhold introduction of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admissin to the undergraduate and post graduate medical courses.

Wansuk Syriem (Cong) demanded the government to revisit the process of choosing the advanced technology for upgradation of telecom projects in north-east whle Tarun Vijay (BJP) sought creation of a commission for prevention of atrocities against dalits.
Ripun Bora (Cong) raised the issue of floods in Assam and

highlighted the devastation it has done in the state.

He also complained that Home Minister Rajnant Singh had spent "only two hours" in the state and did not announce any package. Singh had visited the state to assess the damage caused by floods.

Bora alleged that neither the Centre, nor the State government were serious in their efforts to deal with the problem caused by floods.

Rewati Raman Singh (SP) said while toilets have been constructed in rural India as part of Swachh Bharat campaign, but an estimated 50 lakh of them were not being used.

He said the toilets were being used by people for storing goods, including dung cakes.

Surendra Singh Nagar (SP) said UP government has sent a proposal to Centre for development of airports in Jewar and Agra and sought expeditious clearance.
