Chana adds 0.94% on improved spot demand

Speculators enlarge positions as tight supplies from producing belts fuel uptrend

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Chana prices were up by 0.94 per cent to Rs 3,653 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators enlarged positions amid improved demand in the spot market against tight supplies.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), chana for delivery in far-month April rose by Rs 34, or 0.94 per cent to Rs 3,653 per quintal with an open interest of 1,48,740 lots.

The February contract traded higher by Rs 10, or 0.28 per cent to Rs 3,567 per quintal in 1,11,300 lots.

Analysts said besides pick-up in demand in the spot market, tight supplies from producing belts led to the rise in chana prices at futures trade.
