Chavan to take up Deonar abattoir modernisation with centre

He also said that he would personally follow up the matter with the union ministry of food processing industries. He was talking at an event organised by cattle and slaughter house owners, ahead of Bakri Id.

The state government has been seeking funds under the Centre's scheme for modernisation of slaughter houses in urban areas.

Slaughter house owners' representatives told the chief minister and home minister that right wing organisations harassed them while transporting animals. They alleged that activists of these organisations stop as well as check their vehicles.

Responding to this, state home minister R R Patil assured them that a police officer would be specially deputed at the DGP's office to attend to such complaints and action would be taken in six hours.

 

Chavan also appealed to the people to celebrate the festival in peace and harmony.
