Two senior officials of Commerce and Industry Ministry will visit cyclone-hit Visakhapatnam to assess the damage caused to various industrial projects, including Special Economic Zones in the city.

Commerce and and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has deputed Joint Secretary D V Prasad and Rajeev Arora "to assess the damage caused to various industrial projects, including SEZs in Visakhapatnam, and suggest restoration measures," an official statement today said.

As on August, 42 SEZs are operational in Andhra Pradesh. Out of this, about six are in Visakhapatnam and that includes Ramky Pharma and Brandix India Apparel City.

Andhra Pradesh has recently witnessed an unprecedented natural calamity. The cyclonic storm 'Hudhud' has caused damage to the city of Visakhapatnam and other coastal districts in the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced Rs 1,000 crore as interim relief for the cyclone-hit Andhra Pradesh.
