Coriander, turmeric prices fall on sluggish demand

Coriander and turmeric prices fell by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today in view of easing demand from retailers and stockists amidst adequate stocks position.

Pick up in arrivals from growing regions and weakening trend in futures market also put pressure on the coriander and turmeric prices.

Coriander and turmeric prices fell by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 10,700-15,700 and Rs 8,200-12,100 per quintal, respectively.

Marketmen said sluggish demand from retailers and stockists against adequate stocks, mainly pulled down coriander and turmeric prices.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs):

Ajwain (per kg) 150-190, black pepper (per kg) 680-845, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,380-1,430 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,730-1,780.
 

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 770-820, cardamom (colour robin) 750-780, cardamom bold 770-790, cardamom extra (bold) 890-940 and cloves 680-780. Chirounji (new) (kg) Rs 660-760
