The forest department will introduce home tourism, on lines of the hill belt, in picturesque Kankrajhor area of West Midnapore, Chief Conservator of Forests N Rajsekhar said today.
Rajsekhar, CCF (western) said eight families had been chosen in the area and the model would be Lambatar in Darjeeling Hills where tourists do spend nights in the households of local families and get introduced to local customs.
As part of the move to showscase the tourism potential of the area, a Kakrajhor-based trekking route will be opened for the adventurous while the kechkijhora falls will be beautified with its adjoining roads developed and amenities created, he said.

Rajsekhar, who was speaking on the occasion of 'Van Mahotsav' at Belpahari High School premises, disbursed cheques worth Rs 39 lakh to 16 forest protection committees.
Binpur MLA Dibakar Hansda was among those present.
