Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit today greeted Padma awardees from Tamil Nadu, including music composer Ilayaraja.
The Governor sent congratulatory messages to Ilayaraja and R Nagaswamy, awarded Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan respectively, besides the four persons selected for Padma Shri, a Raj Bhavan release said here today.
The Governor "praised the simplicity, hard work, sincerity and the talented genius of music composer Ilayaraja", the release said.

Further, in his congratulatory message to archaeologist Nagaswamy, Purohit stated that he had "contributed enormously" to the field of archaeology, particularly in Tamil Nadu.
The Governor greeted the four Padma Shri winners, R Nanammal, Rajagopalan Vasudevan, Vijayalakshmi Navaneethakrishnan, and Romulus Whitaker "through special congratulatory messages," it said.
