Hooda inaugurates medical college in Mewat

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today inaugurated Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati medical college and hospital in Mewat district.

The first phase of the medical college and hospital has been constructed at a cost of Rs 507 crore in about 94 acres of land.

The hospital has 500 beds and facility of treatment in 22 disciplines of medicine.

Addressing a public gathering at the inauguration function at Nalhar in Mewat, Hooda said from 1966 to 2005, there was only one medical college in Haryana and that too was established in the then joint Punjab.

"Now, medical colleges were being set up in Karnal, Faridabad and AIIMS-II in Jhajjar. Two new medical colleges will be set up in Mahendergarh and Bhiwani districts as well," he said.
 

The hospital building is six-storeyed and its foundation was laid in July 2009. The OPD services were started here in August 2012. Till now two batches of 100 students each have got admissions in this college.

This college addresses the medical demands of not only Mewat and surrounding area but also of parts of adjoining UP and Rajasthan, he said.
