India wants to see an early conclusion of the transitional period in Nepal, former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said today.
"India wanted to see an early conclusion of the transitional period in Nepal and the Indian leaders are of the view that Nepal should resolve its internal problem on its own," he told reporters at the Tribhuvan International Airport here after wrapping up his five-day long visit to India.
During the visit, the senior CPN-UML leader asked India to support in construction of mid-hill highway from Dolalghat to Dhankuta, Tanakpur - Banbasa road, expediting postal highway construction works and developing Buddhist circuit for the promotion of tourism.
Nepal held high-level talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Indian National Congress president Sonia Gandhi, leader of the opposition L K Advani, External Affairs Minister Salman Khursid, Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar and other prominent leaders.
He said his goodwill visit to India has helped in further strengthening relations between the two countries.
During his visit to Bihar, he took part in an interaction on Nepal's Constituent Assembly and present political situation at the Nalanda University.
Nepal was accompanied by UML General Secretary Ishwar Pokharel and member of the party's foreign department Rajan Bhattarai.
