Lawyers' strike: Clash erupts between two groups of advocates

Clash erupted between two groups of advocates here today when one group decided to call off an on-going strike and resume work in the courts.

Advocates associated with the High Lawyers Association had announced to call of the on-going strike and had decided to resume work from today.

"But when they reached the today, the advocates associated with the High Advocates Association assembled in the corridor of the court in large number and resisted their decision to resume the work," chairman of Bar Council Manoj Garg said.

"They stopped them from going into the court, shouted slogans against them and pushed them out of the court," he said.

"Following this resistance, the lawyers' association reverted its decision and rejoined the striking advocates of advocates association," said an advocate.
