Major IT firms want to set up shop in Goa: CM

Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar today said 4-5 major companies were interested in setting up their units in the coastal state.

"Work on Tuem IT City (in North Goa) is going on at a fast pace. There are 4-5 major IT firms which have shown interest in setting up their base here and be an anchor for other ancillary units," he said.

Parsekar was addressing a gathering at a civic reception held to celebrate his 60th birthday.

"We had announced that state government will bring in Rs 25,000 crore investment and 5,000 jobs. The state formed Investment Promotion Board two years back, and by 2020 we will be able to achieve the target due to which the problem of unemployment will be solved," he said.
