The former CM, while addressing the inauguration ceremony, said Khan had rendered "an unmatched service for the upliftment of the society."

He also asked Khan, who is the lifetime Chancellor of the University, to do his best in establishing a medical college in Rampur which has affiliation to it.

On the occasion, Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav said some elements had tried to hinder the institution's development.

"It was Azam Khan's courage and struggle that the University came into existence with all the required grandeur of an educational institution," he said, adding that the society which has the greatest number of educated pupils can avail of maximum political awareness.
