Press Trust of India Mumbai
Setting an example, police officers in Gadchiroli have shown the human side of the men in uniform as they pooled in over Rs 1.5 lakh to help family of a police constable killed during naxal attack.

"Police officers of the 101st pass out PSI batch now serving in Gadchiroli district, decided to help the family of police constable D Atram, who was killed during an encounter with naxals at Musparshi recently," Gadchiroli district police superintendent Sandip Patil told PTI over phone.

The officers handed a cheque of Rs 1.5 lakh to Patil, to be handed over to the family of the martyr cop.

"The officers decided to chip in considering the fact that the constable's family includes three daughters and wanted to share the financial burden for their education," the IPS officer said.

"They have set up a good example for others to emulate. They have shown that police force cares for their colleagues," Patil added.
