Popular science magazines in regional languages

Press Trust of India New Delhi

Science and Technology Minister Vayalar Ravi made a strong pitch for bringing out 'Science Reporter' magazine in Malayalam after learning that it was available in Urdu.

Ravi mooted the idea at the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (NISCAIR).

Officials said at least one state had made a request to NISCAIR to bring out the magazine in a regional language.

NISCAIR publishes three popular science magazines - 'Vigyan Pragati' in Hindi, 'Science Reporter' in English and 'Vigyan Ki Duniya' in Urdu.

"School children, the future of the nation, also benefit tremendously from these magazines. I hope this magazine Science Reporter will be published in regional languages also, to benefit people in different states who mostly use their mother language.
