Punjab resident arrested with 140 kg of poppy in Udhampur

Police today arrested a man and seized 140 kg of poppy from him in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district.

Based on an information, police parties set up a checkpoint on highway at the Chenani area of the district and intercepted a truck, a police official said.

During search, 140 kg of poppy was seized from it and driver Surinder Singhof the Tanda area in Punjab was arrested on the spot, he said.

A case has been registered in this connection at Police Station Chenani and further investigation was underway, the official added.
